How to write a simple press release

Do you want the media to write about you – and reach out to new customers? Then you must write a good press release that gets spinning.
With the help of these ten pieces of advice, most people can write good press releases.
USE YOUR LOGO

Place your logo in the document header.

A CLEAR DATE

Press releases are fresh. Therefore, place the date well visible under your logo. Avoid using only numbers when writing the date. Write like this: October 6, 2019.

A POWERFUL HEADLINE

A good headline is short, powerful and indicates the main message. It should fit into one row. Think news-wise and let yourself be inspired by the media’s formulations.

SUMMARY FIRST

Write a bold entry that in 2-4 rows summarizes the whole news article. Start with the city, for example:

Abu Dhabi – summary.

WRITE A QUOTE

A few core statements make the press release more vivid and useful for the media. Enter the name and title after the first quotation and only the name after the second quote.

LINK TO PHOTOS

Enter the URL of an image archive with spokespersons and relevant photos to your press release. Good pictures that are free for publishing increase the chance that it will be an illustrated article instead of a small note.

ENTER CONTACT DETAILS

Insert contact information to the spokesperson and possibly other people who can provide additional information. Phone number, mobile number, and e-mail address should be included.

PUBLISH ON THE WEB

Post the press release on your website while it is being broadcast. Anyone who reads about your news can then verify the information and see your press release.

AVAILABLE

Make sure the contacts are available when the press release is released. Anyone who has a missed call should call back to the journalist.

PREPARE QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Think about what questions the journalists might want to answer. Write down clear answers, have in mind that they should be understandable even for the one who lacks special knowledge in your area.
